Pop diva Lady Gaga performed at the Oscars for the first time last Sunday night. She sang a five-minute medley in a 50th anniversary tribute to "The Sound of Music”. The Robert Wise film, starring Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer, came out in 1965 and won five Academy Awards.

The kudos were quick, starting with a standing ovation from the star studded audience. The “Applause” singer’s performance actually brought tears to the 1965 film’s iconic star Julie Andrews, 79, who hugged Lady Gaga, 28, and raved about her rendition.
